Alex Cunningham MP stands up for consumers

Local MP Alex Cunningham has spoken out in the House of Commons about the collapse of Crown Currency Exchange, which has left people across the country hundreds or even thousands of pounds out of pocket.

Alex has been contacted by a handful of constituents who have lost out through Crown Currency Exchange, having thought they could rely on the company to supply their foreign currency.

On Thursday the Leader of the House, Sir George Young, promised to raise the issue with Ministers in the Treasury, suggesting that Government legislation could be considered if required. Following Business Questions, Alex said:

“I was pleased that the Leader of the House acknowledged that the Collapse of Crown Currency Exchange is something the Government should be looking at.

I have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking him to ensure this matter is thoroughly looked at by his Department.”
