BCT Summer Sports Club success

BCT Events and Know How North East Summer Sports club 2010 was voted an all round success by the young people of The Clarences, Low Grange and Norton Grange.  BCT Events and Know How North East got together to put this course on for local young people free of charge.

Every Tuesday of the school holidays young people gathered at Billingham Rugby Club for a fun packed day of sporting activities.  Approximately 40 young people between the ages of 7 and 16 took part in a wide range of sports including football, rugby, cricket, hockey and rounders.

Coaches from Durham County Cricket Club, Billingham Rugby Club, Billingham Hockey Club, Billingham Synthonia Cricket Club and Billingham Town FC worked with the youngsters outdoors, giving them the benefit of their sporting expertise.  Lunch was served in the Rugby Club clubhouse and luckily the weather held out every Tuesday.

Alex Cunningham MP joined youngsters on a lovely sunny day to join in with activities, including a spot of cricket. Alex said:

“I was pleased to spend some time with the youngsters at the Summer Sports Club. It was clear they had all enjoyed themselves and that the Club did a good job of keeping some our local young people busy and active during their summer holiday.”

To date eight participants of the course have attended training sessions with Billingham Rugby Club and Billingham Cricket Club and Stockton Town FC with a view to joining the Clubs as members.
