Prospects look good for investment in North East Ports

Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham today raised the issue of funding for port infrastructure during Energy and Climate Change Questions in the House of Commons.

Following the news that the Government is to follow through with Labour’s plan to invest £60 million in upgrading UK ports, Alex is keen to see some of this money come to the North East.

“The Minister acknowledged this £60 million represents a great opportunity for the North East. This money is deemed vital if private investment in the next generation of offshore wind turbines is to be secured in our region.

At a time when unemployment is set to rise even further, it is vital we secure this investment which will act as a catalyst for many new jobs in the off-shore wind industry.”
