Local MP Alex Cunningham will tomorrow attend a rally to protest against David Cameron’s high-cost, high-risk plans for the NHS which have already cost several hundred Teesside NHS workers their jobs.
The rally, part of the TUC’s ‘All Together for the NHS’ campaign, will take place at North Tees Hospital between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Ahead of the rally, Alex said:
“This Tory-led Government plans to spend £3 billion reorganising the NHS at a time when the service is facing unprecedented efficiency savings of £20 billion. That is despite the fact that when in opposition the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley MP, promised no more top-down reorganisations of the NHS.”
“I have spoken to doctors, nurses and patients across Teesside, all of whom have real concerns about the Government’s plans.”
“Tomorrow we will send a message to the Government that says we will not stand by and let our National Health Service be opened up to private profit. They need to start listening to people across the country who are up-in-arms about these proposals and think again about their plans.”
