Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham has welcomed a £37,500 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to the RSPB Northern England.
The grant will support the project ‘A Date with Seals’ in Alex’s constituency, allowing members of the public to view the North East’s largest seal colony throughout the summer months.
Alex said:
“I am told a seal colony of 70 harbour seals and 30 grey seals has been re-established over the past 40 years, having disappeared completely in the 1930s as the result of industrialisation.”
“I am delighted this generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund will make it possible for members of the public to view the seals throughout the summer months.”
