Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham has highlighted two new schemes that could benefit local groups.
For the first time, the Department for International Development is making funding available to small, local charities through the ‘Global Poverty Action Fund’. Funding will be available for an ‘innovation fund’ for small organisations that have an idea which could improve the lives of people living in the world’s poorest countries.
Another scheme, run by Natwest, offers community projects the chance to win awards of up to £6,000 each. Through the ‘CommunityForce’ scheme Natwest hopes to work with local communities to support people, projects and charities making a real difference to places like Stockton North.
Alex said:
“Both these schemes provide great opportunities for local groups to bid for funding. I hope that people in Stockton North will engage with these initiatives and we will see some of this money being put to good use in our area.”
