Six new skilled jobs have been created in Stockton by Halfords Autocentre, officially opened by Stockton North Labour MP Alex Cunningham.
The Autocentre on Cheltenham Road is the latest to be opened by Halfords, who provide MOT, car servicing, tyre and repair services. The development represents a six-figure sum investment in Stockton, which is set to contribute a further £15,000 to the Teesside economy by purchasing consumables from local suppliers.
Alex said:
“I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to officially open the new Halfords Autocentre. It’s great to see a business expanding and creating much needed jobs in our community and I was impressed at the facilities, which I’m told are second to none.
“I spent some time with the technicians and they’re an enthusiastic and friendly group, eager to do a good job for the people of Stockton. I wish them all the best with their new business. These eight skilled jobs are important to our area and I was pleased to get a positive response from the company when I asked when they would employ an apprenticeship at the Centre”
Chris Hill, manager at the Halfords Autocentre, said: “Across the Halfords Autocentre network we pride ourselves on delivering quality work at affordable prices, and we bring that same commitment to Stockton.
“It can be challenging to find an independent centre that you can trust, and many customers in the Teesside area still rely upon their car manufacturer to provide very costly repairs or MOTs. Each of our mechanics is qualified to the highest standard – meaning that we have the expertise within each of our Autocentres to work on any car make or model.”
