Alex supports Tax Help for Older People

Over 60 and in need free, independent tax advice? Caring for an elderly relative or older person and need help on their behalf? Tax Help for Older People is a free charity that could help, and Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, is raising awareness of the good work that they do

The national charity provides expert, jargon-free  support to people over 60 and on low incomes of around £20,000 per annum. This advice can be given over the phone, at local Citizen Advice Bureau offices or during home visits. Volunteers at Tax Help will be able to assist people in:

  • Checking they have the correct tax codes;
  • Making HMRC letters simple;
  • Make representations to the HMRC and other organisations;
  • Signposting to other appropriate organisations.

Tax Help for Older People is a great organisation that can really help older people with tricky tax issues, or just offer advice and point people in the right direction. By focusing specifically on people on low incomes, Tax Help provides assistance to those who might be unable to afford it, thus giving them the support that they would otherwise struggle to access.
