Alex hails broadband speeds as “good for business” as Stockton North is listed in top ten constituencies for digital connectivity

Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, has branded news that broadband speeds in his constituency are the 8th fastest out of 650 constituencies, as good for business.

Average broadband speeds in Stockton North are 52% higher than the national average, with more than 75% of lines in the constituency able to receive 10mbps or more. While 10Mbps is the speed regarded by Ofcom as necessary for ‘decent broadband’, more than 60% of the Stockton North constituency receive over 30Mbps. Average speeds in Billingham North ward are at 91.3Mbps, making it the highest in Stockton North, however Western Parishes sits at the bottom with 11.8% of line unable to receive 10Mbps.

The news that Stockton North has the eighth fastest broadband speeds out of 650 constituencies is a welcome one. Not only is this good for residents but broadband speed and digital capability are key considerations for businesses – and make Stockton North an attractive proposition for businesses looking to move or set up new premises.

While we need to see more work done to ensure people everywhere including Western Parishes have access to better broadband speeds, Stockton North is clearly leading the way in the North East when it comes to broadband connectivity.
