MP’s office officially Fairtrade as Alex backs the campaign

Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, is backing the Fairtrade Campaign – and his Stockton North office has gained official ‘Fairtrade’ status.

Alex met with campaigners to hear about the good work the Fairtrade Foundation is doing to make differences to the lives of producers of tea, coffee, and other goods, across the world. The Fairtrade mission is to connect disadvantaged producers and consumers, promote fairer trading conditions, and empower local producers to tackle poverty, and take a greater control of their lives. The ‘Fairtrade Standard’ includes protection of workers’ rights and the environment, for companies they include the payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in business or community projects of the community’s choice.

I’m delighted to support the Fairtrade Foundation’s campaign – and that my Stockton North office has been awarded ‘Fairtrade’ status. That means not only do we provide visitors tasty Fairtrade produced biscuits to go with Fairtrade tea and coffee, but our support goes in some way to support producers across the world.

Fairtrade is good for producers and consumers alike – and I’d encourage all Stockton North businesses and organisations to support the Fairtrade Foundation’s mission.
