Stockton Baby Bank held its Open Day for the local community, and Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham popped in too see the great service first hand.
The Baby Bank, which has been organised by Rachael Holland and supported by Portrack Baptist Church minister Linda Donaldson and other volunteers from the community, provides free clothes and other items for babies and new-borns. The items have been donated by members of the church and the wider community.
I was delighted to attend the Baby Bank Open Day and see first-hand the great work being done by the Church and local community.
As a father and a grandfather I know that, while incredibly reward, raising a child is a huge emotional and financial commitment. Not everyone can afford to meet the costs that raising a child can have, and this Baby Bank fills a very special need.
While it’s shaming that the sixth richest country needs services such as Baby and Food banks, it is heartening to see the community pull together to support those in need.
