Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, is urging constituents to avoid calling their GP about Covid-19 vaccinations following a plea from the Tees Valley Clinical Commissioning Group.
In a letter to Tees Valley MPs, the Tees Valley CCG seeks to assure people that vaccinations are being carried out in a certain order and that people in the first priority will be contacted to make arrangements for vaccination. People over 80, frontline health and social care workers, care home residents and their carers are in the process of being vaccinated with the CCG.
However the CCG has stated that phone calls asking for appointments is impacting the “business as usual” work and call of GPs across the area.
Alex said:
“Vaccination is the route out of this pandemic and the NHS is carrying out the largest vaccination programme in its history. I am grateful to every single person who has worked and is working to get our people vaccinated.
“It is important to remember that everyone will be vaccinated but that it is being rolled out in stages. No one needs to call for an appointment. If you are in the priority group which is currently being vaccinated, pleased be assured that your GP will contact you.”
