“Let’s Vaccinate Stockton North”, says Alex after visit to Abbey Health Centre Vaccination Hub

Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, has commended the hard work of health professionals in their efforts to vaccinate the people of Stockton on Tees – and has repeated his call for everyone to take the vaccination when they are contacted by their GP.

Visiting Abbey Health Centre, Billingham, Alex heard how seven surgeries across Norton and Billingham are working together to vaccinate local people using the Pfizer vaccine. Alex attended the centre as they were carrying out their third vaccination session of around 1170 people.

Around 5000 people have been vaccinated at these sessions, and the group is well on track to have vaccinated everyone in the first wave in the next couple of weeks.

Alex said:

“It was a tremendous privilege for me to visit the front line NHS staff from across the area working together to vaccinate thousands of people from Norton and Billingham. It was seeing the NHS at its best – working with the community to serve them.  With just three main sessions they’ve got through nearly 5000 people and are well on track to get all the people in the first four groups completed within the next couple of weeks.  That is a fantastic achievement and they can all be very proud with the work they are doing.

“I’m also pleased to see so many people ready and willing to take up the vaccine and would encourage everyone to wait for the call from their surgery – and as soon as they get called up, get in there and have the vaccine. It is the route back to a normal society again.”
