Alex pledges to continue his support of the Royal British Legion ahead of its 100th Birthday

Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham, has pledged to continue his support of the Royal British Legion as it begins its centenary anniversary celebrations on Sunday 15 May.

Formed in the aftermath of the First World War, the Royal British Legion has worked tirelessly to fight for the rights of members of the armed forces and their families. Although the centenary is celebration of the past, the RBL are also using to look ahead to the next 100 years.

As MP for Stockton North Alex has supported the RBL throughout his eleven years in Parliament. He took part in a year long Journey into the Legion which saw him visit RBL centres in the area and see the varied work the Legion’s staff and volunteers do to support members of the armed forces.

Alex said:

“Since 1921 the Royal British Legion has been fighting for the rights of those who gave so much and came back to so little. Today, the Legion continues to stand with the Armed Forces community and challenge injustices to ensure all those who have served and sacrificed on our behalf get the fair treatment and recognition they deserve.

“I’ve been proud to work with the Legion and support it and those it works with in Parliament. On the eve of the Legion’s centenary anniversary I pledge to continue to support the Legion and do what I can to support them in their campaigns.”
