Statement on Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund Allocation

Following the Department for Transport allocation of more than six million pounds worth of investment in the Tees Valley, the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, Alex Cunningham has made this statement:

“I warmly welcome the more than £6 million investment being made through the LEVI scheme in the Tees Valley to install more electric vehicle charging points.

In order to meet our commitments to tackling climate change, we need to have the infrastructure ready for electric vehicles across the Tees Valley. In recent months, I have been to visit a number of industries and businesses who are looking to support their industrial vehicles to do this, and I am very happy to see the Department for Transport recognising the need to support the domestic side of this as well.

Teesside was once the engine room of the world and has always been at the forefront of technological advancement, we cannot and must not be left behind as we switch to the newest generation of electric vehicles with nowhere to charge them, especially for the thousands of people In Stockton and the Tees Valley who cannot park on a private drive.”
