Gain skills and experience with SMF’s “Aspiring Professionals Programme”

Applications for the Social Mobility Foundation’s (SMF) Aspiring Professionals Programme open on 27 November, and Stockton North MP, Alex Cunningham, is encouraging young people from his constituency to apply.

The free programme for 2018 is available to year 12 students across England and Wales, and includes mentoring, university application support, professional development and skills workshops, and short-term internships with a host organisation. 11 professional sectors including law, medicine, and politics. Support is offered throughout university to give young people the best possible chance to attain graduate jobs after education.

The SMF’s Aspiring Professionals Programme has a proven track record of giving young people the extra skills needed to attain their university place. 60 per cent of participants get a place at a Russell Group university, and the Institute of Fiscal Studies show that the scale of its impact on elite university entry is akin to a candidate having 3 A*s at A-Level rather than 3 As.

Alex said:

Young people deserve the best possible chance to get into the university of their choice, and the Social Mobility Foundation’s programme is a great way to boost their extra-curricular experience, gain new skills, and receive extra support and advice along the way. I’d encourage any interested young person in Stockton North to apply”
