Views sought on proposed changes to important respite services

Stockton residents are being asked to give their views on proposed changes to respite services for people with learning disabilities, complex needs and/or autism – and MP Alex Cunningham is encouraging people to give them.

The NHS Hartlepool and Stockton on Tees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have proposed two options for bed-based respite services:

  • Option One: replacing Bed Based Respite services, changing the assessment to allocations to be more needs led. Buying community based services and clinically led outreach support.
  • Option Two: continue with services at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough, and Asygarth, Stockton on Tees, buying flexible community-based services, and making the process more needs led.

Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North, said:

It’s imperative that we get respite services right for the people who use them, and I’m pleased to see that the CCG is carrying out this consultation. It’s vital that people’s views are heard, and I urge patients, family members, and carers to attend one of these sessions and make their opinions known.”

The sessions will take place at:

  • Stockton District Advice and Information Service, Bath Lane, Stockton on Tees, TS18 2DS on 16 October and 24 October, between 7pm and 8pm
  • St John the Baptist Church of England, Durham Road, Stockton on Tees, TS19 0DZ on 25 October, between 7pm and 8pm.
