Businesses across the Stockton borough and beyond can now apply for help from the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme which has now gone live

The Government promised to support businesses and those in work. From this morning, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been launched. It will cover 80% of people’s wages, up to £2500 a month and has been extended by one month, meaning employers can now furlough their employees until the end of June.

To make a claim, employers will need to head to this website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wages-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme

There is a calculator available which allows employers to check their calculations online before making a claim. Employers should have all their information and calculations ready before beginning their application and should retain all records and calculations, in case we need to contact them.

Alex says:

“I’m pleased to see this scheme at long last being implemented by the government. It is vital that businesses and people’s livelihoods are protected during these unprecedented times. The scheme will relieve some of the anxiety and make navigating these difficult times easier for many of my constituents.

“It is now critical that the government processes applications rapidly to ensure that businesses don’t fail before they get the help they desperately need.”
